Hello, and welcome to The Care and Keeping of Your Pet! As you surely know, a pet is a big responsibility, and we're so glad you've decided to be a concientious master. A safe pet is a happy pet, and this handbook is certain to keep your precious lifelong friend as content as can be.

The history of the animal person is a long and difficult one, with their origins not being known even to this day. However, scientists believe that despite our common appearance - most animal people have humanoid forms except for the ears, tails, and sometimes teeth - we share no common ancestry, even if the ascent of this species corresponds with that of the homo sapien. We gained dominance over each breed thousands of years ago, beginning with the dog type, who have long been considered "man's best friend." Most breeds these days are docile and perfect for owners of any speed.

Of course, it is our duty as the superior species to take care of these animal creatures, and this is inherent in their genetic makeup. Everyone knows that an animal person, when matched with their correct human master, is loyal for life - a true "soulmate," if you will. Far be it for us to turn this away! Ever since the Great Domestication, these intelligent and loving animals have served us as friends, workmates, guardians, servants, and sexual companions and will for years to come. Despite recent hubbub from so-called "Pet People's Rights Activists," this way of life is wholesome and good. Scientific research shows that the natural desire of the pet person is to be owned and cared for by a human.

So, it's your first pet. What do you need to know?

As previously stated, pet people come in as many breeds as you can possibly think of. By far and away the most popular are the dog and cat types, but exotic birds and lizards have been gaining popularity among trendsetters from L.A. to Tokyo!
All pet types are best suited for certain jobs, and when hunting for one, it is best to search for a type that suits your needs best.
However, a "True Match" - when a pet person bonds with you and only you for the rest of their natural lives - comes naturally, and sometimes takes time before you can find the pet you will be able to give a forever home to.
According to all current research, pet people are completely sentient and like us in many ways. However, it is important to remember that they have many animalistic and feral characteristics. Do not be foolish and think that your pet is a person, despite the facts that many are clothed and may be allowed to read, write, and have "hobbies." Some traditional pet owners may eschew these frivolities, and that is within their right.
Pet people age more quickly than humans, at least physically, and many types have long lifespans. It is not uncommon for pets to be passed through the family. When getting your child their first pet, it's important to keep in mind that just because the pup is tiny now, a grown pet can be jumpy around a small child.
It is important to train a pet. Discipline will be necessary. This does not make you a bad owner. Failure to train early will result in a rebellious pet. Training is especially important if you want your pet to serve as a household servant.
Remember, your pet will be extremely protective of you, especially if you are Truly Bonded. It is best to socialize them early. A socialized pet is a perfect family pet.
These days, unowned and unbonded pet people are allowed to live as strays or "Frees" in certain designated areas. Some even hold "jobs." This is against their best interest, and owners who adopt these strays are to be rewarded. Still, the best place to get pets are from liscenced kennels or breeders.
Some masters find it beneficial to participate in activities with their pets, such as shows and other competitions.
Finally, much has been made about the sexual relationship between pet and master. This is a normal facet of the bond, and humans are sure to find pet people sexually alluring. But beyond that, it is only responsible and prudent for owners to care for their pet's needs. It is a well-known fact that the libidos of pet people are remarkably strong, and when they go into heat, it is usually more convenient for a master to relieve them. There is no risk of pregnancy. All rumors of hybrids are urban legends.
Despite this, masters must remember to not view their pets as romantic partners. Humans should stay with humans.

Needless to say, The Care and Keeping of Your Pet is a bit biased and full of propaganda, but it gives a good idea of the world your character is now AU's into. They are either a pet person or a human master, and what that means for them varies.

So are they a devoted pet or a rebellious animal person looking to buck the system? A generous master or a cruel sexual sadist? Just a normal pet owner? Most likely they're something in between, but when you're raised in this world, it's difficult to see anything different on the horizon.

Rules

Comment with your character and say whether they'd be a master or a pet. Ideally, they could be played as both. Mention what kind of each they'd be and what they'd be like, (ie: "Xx-chan is a bunny girl who is happy to please her master" or "Asterothia is a cat boy who is aloof but loyal to his true master"). For pets, be sure to include features ("wolf ears, tail, teeth).

REMEMBER, pet does not automatically equal submissive and master automatically equal dominant. This is not a BDSM setting though BDSM can be included. How far you want to go with the actual "pet" aspect is up to you, as well. Your pet could just be your slightly-furry roommate or soulmate!

This by no means an all-inclusive list, but it should get you going in the right direction.

First Time Pet/Owner: Usually, pets are gotten at a young age; you're an old dog. Can you learn new tricks?
True Bond: What all masters and pets yearn for...the pet's loyalty and adoration for life.
Love: It's expected for masters to love their pets, but to love them? Romance is strictly forbidden.
Old "Couple": Master and pet have grown together and know each other. You know, know each other.
Loss of Master: The pet has lost their master, perhaps even their True Bond. Is it possible to move on?
Young Master/Older Pet: Pets age quicker than masters, so it's possible to end up with a bit of an "age" difference.
Family Pet: This pet's been raised as part of the family. What happens when their feelings for a family member get more than platonic.
For Your Protection: You don't want to be a master, but you have to take in a pet for their protection lest they be in danger from the general public.
Stray: You're a stray or a "Free." Can you live like this with your biology screaming for you to make a match?
Servant: You're more servant than pet.
All Sex, All the Time: The only purpose for this pet is to service the master, and not in a way that means cleaning their house.
Guard: You're a loyal bodyguard, a service pet. You'll do anything for your master. Anything.
Pet Play: This is for those who prefer to keep their animals on leashes, have them eat from bowls, and keep away from clothing.
Breaking In: Training is important with any pet.
In Love with Another Master...or Pet: To lust after another's master is no better than treason, and to wish to be with another pet just cruel!
Punishment: Bad dog, no nookie!
Heat: All pets go into heat, and it's the responsibility of the owner to take care of this problem. After all, unchecked dry humping kills thousands every year.
Breeding: Breeders know the best qualities in each type and mate the cream of the crop together to continue lines. It's a hobby for some, a calling for others.
Territorial: Hey, hey, other dog person! This is your apartment. Stay the fuck out!
Kennel: Kennels are where unadopted pets are kept. They're generally agreed to be depressing places. Why not volunteer at one, keeping the pets healthy and happy with the kind of affection only humans can show?
Rebelling Against the System: Damn the Man! Pet people are people, too! Just be careful not to get talk. You know what happens to bad pets.
Instant Attraction: You ever just look at someone and know they're the one? That they're...your master? But what if you've been trying to fight it? Well, don't try!
Dominant Pet: You might be the pet, but you call the shots, at least in the bedroom.
Pet Show: Everyone wants to show off how perfect their animal is. Look at that ass! And you'll never believe their special skills...
Therapeutic: Pets, especially those bred for their kindliness, are perfect therapy for those who've been through trauma and heartache.
Jealousy: Who's that around your master? Oh, hell no. They better not be touching them!
Petting: Pet people are absolutely gaga for being touched. Even the most steely ones turn to mush for rubs.
Games: Playing with your pet and giving them exercise is a key to happiness. Of course, with a pet person, you might want to use other toys instead of a ball.

The seaside cliff was host to a ramshackle of an old lookout post, the sort of place the vainglorious Lord King wouldn't be caught dead in. But a glyph on the floor, covered over with dust, marked it as one of theirs, to the precious few walking the earth in the know. Trigger the right spot, and the entrance to a cavern would open, cached with all manner of odds and ends of the ages.

It was shelter, anyway, though Kuja would complain of the place every time they visited. He'd gotten accustomed to finer things, let loose upon the world.

He didn't even bother knocking, when he strides in an hour late, pushing past the ruin hanging off the hinges where a door used to be. He sweeps the hood off of his head, shaking out his hair, undoing with a sweep of his hand one particular knot of the illusions he keeps over his appearance-- the feathers re-appear. One pinion of the crest on his head has been particularly ruffled. ]}

Ugh. They talked for hours. I could hardly stand to hear another word by the end.

[Howdy I'm voicetesting! Offering Ser Haurchefant Greystone. He's a goofy elezen from the popular MMORPG. As the owner, he's protective and doting of his pet and he likes pampering his favorite pet friend with all the love he thinks they deserve. This includes feeding them delicious warm food, bathing them, building cozy blanket cushion forts, or help them satisfy their heats so it's open to smut down the line, but it's not necessary if you just wants hugs, cuddles or physical affection. :>

As the pet, he can be a wolf, cat, or if you're feeling adventurous, horse or dragon. I'm open to play M/F or M/M. Any kinks or situation you would like to try later on, let me know, I'm pretty flexible]

Haurchefant is a pure-breed though it was also said he's also an illegimate son of the purebred royal cat who fathered and sired him. Once he's adopted with a certificate included with his adoption fees, he settles in her home.

He's very playful whenever she has time for him and also make flirty comments on how nice she smells from the sun, how she looks better with some muscle tone once he shows her some exercise through their walks together. Whenever she came back home tired and burned out, he make hot baths for her and assemble her bedroom like a cozy cushion fort to rest, loaf, and nap together.

He never did mention his heats as he has taken heat suppressants pills for her sake, though each day the pills is starting to backfire and his heats and hormone becoming strong. Last thing he needs is for her to be terrified, though sometimes he slips up when he compliments and flirts with her and tried so hard to be on his best behavior. A brief touch on her arm, a touch on her hip, her hair, and her face but he quickly pulls aways as if seared by fire itself.

"You just smell so good." He purred as he rubs his face on her shoulder, pressing his body against her for cuddles on her bed.

[Okay, also SQUEAL!!! THE GOODEST OF GOOD BOYS!]

He was a pure-breed that was well worth his price tag. A cat from a line that only a few can dream of owning. But yet, somehow, Leanne managed to get him.

Haurchefant's personality was his biggest draw to her as he always seems to know just what to say and do to make her smile again. Thanks to him, she was slowly developing some muscle tone as she follows his lead on their walks. His flirts at first seem to go over her head but bit by bit, she does slowly react to them with either a blush or a shy expression. With the way he pampered her while she was trying to pamper him made it harder to not see him as just a pet.

She doesn't noticed that he was in heat and just chalked up as him being extra affectionate. Somehow, she can't imagine him being in heat as he doesn't seem to be the type (in her mind) to go into such things. The brief touches and how he was reacting to them was strange and somewhat concerning.

"Haurchefant? What is it?" Huh? She smelled good? But that shouldn't make him behave like this. "Are you okay, my good boy?" She reaches over to start petting his head and face, giving him a worried expression as he presses his body against hers for cuddles. Hnnng, as long as he stays away from her neck, she won't at least make things awkward by moaning.

"You are being extra cuddly. Have you been lonely my handsome boy?"

The heat suppressants helped ease the pain. She has no idea how lonely he gets. To get relief, he does so on his private bedding behind a closed door, and licks away the evidence and washes off his own scent before she comes home. Any perverted things he wanted to do and being on his medicine, the medicine helped dull the perverted thoughts.

Each day he suppressed his heat, it’s get stronger and he hopes he could ease away at the end of his cycle. But her warm body and scent is too enticing that he couldn’t resist getting some physical touch and praise from her just a little even inwardly he wanted to beg for more.

“I’m all right. You’re home now so I’m not lonely.” He said, voice low. His eyes glazed over. He pressed his nose on her hair and deeply inhales, his arms wrapping around her waist. It’s as close he could get and he could sink in his perverted thoughts later, pushing the hopeless thoughts away.

“Welcome home. You must be tired.” Still playing and pretending to be a good boy facade. He dipped to ghost his lips on her neck and shoulder, then with ease pulls to maintain space and distance.

With a smile wanting to see her smile too, “I can prepare your bath and your bed so I hope it’s to your liking.”

Once she relaxes, he plans to gives her the usual massages that’s he’s really good at.

He was through with cleaning up after relieving himself as she never had any clue what is going on with him. But it seems to not do him any good as he is struggling with his heat despite his efforts and medicine.

Emerald eyes studies him as she keeps petting him, hoping her touch brings him some comfort. "You sure? I am glad that I am helping your loneliness." She smiles and stops her petting as he buries his face against her hair and she couldn't help but to blush when his hold around her waist strengthens.

She tries not to moan as she feels the ghost of his lips near her neck. When he pulls away she finds herself missing his closeness a little.

"Perhaps a bath will be good. Have you taken a bath yet, my good boy? If not, then you go and have one. I can wash your back and hair if you like."

She offers but for the massaging, she will look forward to it as it satisfy her own urge of the need for touch.

The petting does little to simmer the passion his heat is threatening to surface. But to him, it was his reward.

But he shall triumph to win her over with some discipline that comes with his pedigree. So he pressed his desire down as her comfort is his priority.

He would like that very much for her to take care of him but he shook his head. Her eyes is not ready to gaze upon his body when she’s so near.

“Nay. The bath is for you.” While he dreams of sharing a bath with her someday, he is not so far advanced to that closeness and intimacy he desire with that trust until he rightfully earned it.

“I will wait for you when you finished.”

I'm up for either pet or owner, depending on what you feel with her. And while I said in my post that she'd most likely be a cat, I don't mind altering it to something more fitting (as in FFXIV I created her as an Au Ra). We'll see if it winds up going into smutty territory or not, and while I have a few hard "no way" kinks they're few and far in-between, and I'll let you know if something is starting to drift into uncomfortable territory for me. ]]

She doesn't realize his desires when it comes to her as he was just a cat and she, a human owner.

Leanne blinks as he shakes his head before letting out a small sigh and smiles softly. "Are you sure? I feel bad that you are always pampering me when I should be the one to pamper you." To share a bath, that was such a level of intimacy that she could only dream of having.

She moves to sit up on the bed, stretching as she heads to the bathroom. "I will try not to take too long." She winks back at him as she slowly undresses before entering the bathroom to take her bath.

It was hard not to think of Haurchefant as overly helpful when she first came across him. She had expected at least some suspicion from him, given the less-than-warm reception she'd received from others in that frozen place. Being draconic in appearance didn't exactly help her case, as some more opinionated locals had, to put it kindly, made their thoughts known to her.

So when this one Elezen was kind enough to shelter her, provide her with food, encouragement, information, anything she could have possibly needed, it was hard for Adela to not feel suspicious of him. He was clear about what he wanted from her at first, but after that was anyone's guess. Still, it was nice to have company that seemingly had no ulteriour motive, and after long enough... She was starting to trust that maybe there wasn't one.

That she had a place with him was clear, and before she knew it she began to relax and even smile more often as they fell into a routine. She felt off when he would spoil her with no recompense, so the dragon girl began to do things that she thought would help. Hunting game, cooking it, keeping things neat and orderly, and other things that suited the petite red head's talents. Unfortunately, she scarcely ever realized how exhausting such pursuits were on top of everything else she did, and it would be a common sight for her to sleep somewhere that wasn't a bed while doing those.

It was one of those times, during which Haurchefant was managing the camp that day, that he would come across her asleep on a lounge chair in their shared abode. It was clear that she tried to take a short break to read a book as their evening stew bubbled away. It tended to be difficult to stay awake in the cold for her, after all.

He has so many requests since the day he met her. Some are mere wishes that he would someday he hoped she would fulfill. Others it's a shadow of his own fantasies.

By his own fury, if he could let it know to her. He continues to smile, trying to keep the peace between them and his desires in check. He is glad to just not take her affection for granted.

"Do not stress yourself pleasing me. The bath is ready. You always like it hot with a bit of steam."

She's in the bathroom naked of course and he wanted to join. So frustrating that his body is wearing him out. He looks away and zoomies to his private room where he plunges on the bed to roll and make a burrito of himself, his own insecurities are enough to kill his mood.

He waited and will come to her when he's being summoned for service.

If only she knew, she would fulfill them. She only wanted to spoil him ever since being picked by him to be his owner.

But if she also knew of his desires, she was glad that he was keeping them in check as she wasn't sure if she could resist him.

"It is no more stressful for me than it is for you to do the same. Especially when I want to do so."

The bath was relaxing but yet, she couldn't help but think about his extra affectionate nature. After a while, she leaves and heads to her bed, her skin flushed from the hot bath and was only wearing her robes as she lays on her bed.

"Haurchefant? Where are you?"

For the AU, I just pretended he survived Heavenward (with a scar as a reminder) and get to live to see Ishgsard being reconstructed and rebuilt. We'll see if it's a WoL au or pet person Au! I'm fine with either. Also I'm nearing the end of Stormblood!]

Lord Haurchefant always wanted to help. He is bound by his honor to help those who seek his aid and succor, and he happily provides it without any expectation of a reward or anything in return. And he always does so with a smile and words of warm comfort, even if it's mild teasing and obvious flirting, but his motive is a friendly jab and his curiosity of where she's from or what she needs from him.

A honest man of his word, he works hard to earn her trust but also give her the comfort and space she needed. While he knows little of Au Ra and their tribes, he only heard they had settlements as far as the Azim Steppe.

It wasn't much, but he does have privileges as the commander of Camp Dragonhead. He can deal much with the complaints of the tiresome food and drinks and delayed deliveries. He told her to think of it as a headquarters and a temporary sanctuary, a place to hide, and she could stay for as long she wishes.

"Don't wear yourself out Adela." The merciless cold and neverending winters in the snow-covered highlands of coerthas is a difficult place to survive and live, even for the most trained soldiers. Not only it's easy to get sick, but there's monsters and wolves living in the surrounded forests.

When he sees she's about to wear herself out to exhaustion, her eyes closing even as she works and demands sleep, he just need to gently guide her to a chair near the fireplace to warm her body up. "How about you sit down and rest? I'll go make some cocoa?"

By the time he came back from the kitchens with two cups of cocoa and marshmallows. The stew was near cold as the fire in the logs is slowly vanishing, and her book fell over on the floor.

Which he fixes it by picking up the book, pick at the logs with a poker to rekindle the first, and gently stir her awake, "If you're cold, I got you some hot cocoa to help warm you up." Which there's a mug of steaming hot cocoa on the table.

"I forgot. I have to get you a blanket if you need one."

The medicine started to kick in and his own heat and desires started to dull somewhat. As a side-effect, he felt mildly drowsy and lethargic.

Having heard his name, he's being summoned. He felt his own clothes heavy, but he wears loosely and casually.

He got up, being summoned, ready to give service. With a smile, "Yes? You called? Do you want me?"

She smiles as she hears him entering and nods her head. Awww look at how cute he looks when he is so sleepy!

"Yes, I do but you look sleepy so lets cuddle for a bit. You have been a good boy and can sleep with me." She shifts to lay on her side and pats the spot next to her on her bed. "Come here, good boy."

He looks happy and excited at the prospect. Maybe the medicine will last long enough for him to sleep through the night and sleep off his heat. So he isn't worried about it. Sleeping on her bed.

"Yes!" He hurries and zoomies to her beside without hesitation and curls up to snuggle with her on the soft side of the bed beneath the soft layer blanket. "I guess you're ready to sleep now. Would you like a massage before you sleep?" Shoulder neck massage to loosen up tension? Maybe little feet rub to warm up her feet? He didn't mind giving.

She giggles at how happy he looked and just how quickly he zoomies into her bed, next to her. It seems like the simple things makes him happy. Such a sweet boy that deserves everything in this world.

"I wouldn't mind a massage but you seem to be sleepy. I am happy with just snuggling with you." She reaches over to start petting him slowly, moving in to snuggle him. "But I won't say no if you want to give me one." She leans over to give him a kiss on the cheek.

Just a small massage on the shoulders and neck to lose tension then and then cuddles. He lives to service her.

Afterward, he cuddles with her, keeping her body warm with his body. A little playful feet touch with his own to keep her warm, his long silver fur tail curls around one of her legs protectively and he appreciate the kiss, so he nuzzles back on his cheek. Yes, the medicine work, so it kept the heat at bay.

But not for long.

In a few short while as he laid on the bed, he's starting to feel a little uncomfortable as his body heats up again. Breath quickens, clothes uncomfortable, and a certain itch between his legs. He shot up wide awake, unable to sleep. "Can't sleep, can't stay." he said in the darkness of the room.

She couldn't help but to let out a soft moan at the small message, feeling the tension leaving her neck and shoulders.

A massage and cuddles, was there honestly any better way to end the day and enter the dream world with? She giggles again as she feels his playfulness. Leanne nuzzles back, smiling as she snuggles more into his arms. "Goodnight my good boy."

She closes her eyes to slowly slip into sleep, only to blink herself awake as she feels him quickly moving. "What is it?" She reaches over to rest a hand on his arm, looking up where she knows his face is. Without thinking, a leg moves to drape over his. "What's wrong?"

"What? Haurchefant?"

The touch almost had her tense, but she knew by then where she was, and who was waking her. She has to mask a yawn, and while it's slight there is a head ache from the grogginess courtesy of her impromptu nap. The process is slow, but she managed to reach for the mug at least, and in spite of herself she sighed.

"The cocoa is enough... It seems that I do nothing but cause you trouble as of late. You're too kind to me."

It really was meant to be a comment about much more mundane things, but there was still something in the back of her mind. Something that she'd be better off not thinking about, not even to entertain the idea of what could have happened. Instead she made to blow over the mug of cocoa before taking it in. It did wonders to warm her up even in the bitter cold, and it helped that he was there with her.

"Just give me a moment, and I can work on the fire. You've been working hard, and... Well, you should have a hot meal, at least."

The words were odd, almost strained. Even after all that time, she had trouble saying what she meant, what she wanted to say. It was difficult to express admiration, care, and worry, at least with words. She tried to make herself get up then, setting the mug aside so that she could try to take the poker and tend to the fire. It was always easier to act, and it helped to distract her from the things she'd rather not acknowledge.

Though, it was hard to ignore just how dry her scales were getting. But that was something she could deal with on her own time.

"I just hope things get easier for you soon. I... It'd be troublesome if they didn't."
