[It's okay if Ain doesn't know what love means, because most days, Vash isn't sure he fully understands it himself. He knows he loved Rem, even though she's gone now. And he loved Nai...but the Nai he knew- or thought he knew- is gone, now. His only other companion in the world, his previous pet...he's gone too. It's just Ain now, and he's pretty sure that the two of them have managed to forge something of a codependent relationship due to that fact. It's not that this happens often with Vash, exactly...he's more used to not getting close to people, for their sake more than his own. This hasn't happened since his last companion, and back then he wasn't sure if he'd be able to take that kind of heartache again.
Yet here he is, sitting on the couch watching Ain with bated breath as he shifts down across his lap so that he has a better vantage point for kissing. From his cheeks, to his lips, then down, down, further down...
In spite of himself, Vash sucks in a breath through his teeth when he feels lips make contact with one of those scars, a nasty gouge that was once messily sewn up by his own hands. It wasn't cleanly done, nor did it heal over properly, and as a result the scar is deep and there to stay. It's also toeing a bizarre line of sensitivity coupled with complete numbness where he fucked up the stitching...he exhales slowly, smoothing his hand down Ain's wing.]
