[Vash watches as Ain sits up, his brows raising as he removes the ribbon from his hair. He holds his hand out reflexively when Ain moves to drop it into his palm, only to be struck dumb by the kiss to his cheek. It’s nothing different than what they’ve done before- it’s downright tame in comparison- yet for some reason it leaves Vash feeling like he’s melting down all the same. He stumbles to say something, but before the words can come, Ain has already sauntered away.
He’s left staring at the ribbon falling through his fingers like water, at least until he thinks to carefully tie it around the wrist of his good hand loosely, just to make extra sure he doesn’t lose it.
Then…he gets to sit there with that same burning in his chest for quite a long time, brushing over the ribbon with his metal fingertips. He honestly wanted a chance to look at the damage while Ain was gone, so Ain wouldn’t worry…and the ribbon serves as a distraction from that. The damage isn’t insignificant, but it’s manageable enough that he’s pretty sure his arm won’t fall apart, so long as it doesn’t take another blow. He sighs, shucking it through the back of his hair, before throwing himself down onto the mattress similar to how Ain had been before.
