[Up the slope they go. This looks like it's maybe the beginning of a hiking trail — it makes sense, they're in the mountains — or maybe it's just a back road or something. Either way, no one is up here, and it grants them some solitude. They're usually trying to find that in some way, but it feels different tonight, in the chilly weather and with Vash at his side.

They just went to dinner after a fun day on the town. Made out a couple hours ago because Ain can't keep his hands to himself. And now it's snowing and they're walking away from civilization to look out over the city as frost slowly accumulates on the dirt and grass and sidewalks. Everything in this moment points to some sort of romance under the setting sun, and Ain is hopelessly oblivious to it and desperately trying to figure out why his stomach is doing flips again.

When he's sure they're alone, absolutely positive, he stretches his wings out and wraps one around Vash's back. If anyone comes out this far and sees them, so be it, they'll just have to live with this. Ain's already come up with an excuse — Vash is cold, wings are warm — just in case.

Up the rise they go, until they're on a hill overlooking the town. Or maybe "hill" isn't quite right, maybe it's more like they just hiked partway up the less-steep side of the mountain, just at the tree line but not quite buried in the forest yet. The town is lit up by now, street lamps and shop windows and even the inn itself — and the snow coalesces around them on the wind and sticks to their heads and shoulders and to the tops of buildings before them.

Ain feels at peace, despite the stomach-flips. A cold wind blows, and he has to put his hand up to his bangs to keep them from blowing into his eyes.]

It's pretty...
