Her heart was fluttering so much, and it was hard to think straight anymore. Another minute of quiet and she took a breath, bracing herself as she moved her hand over his, hoping to hold on just enough for him to feel it. It wasn't much, but maybe it would say everything she failed to give a voice. If nothing else, it might answer some of the doubts and questions she had.

If the answer wasn't what she wanted... Well, at least there were monsters out there to take out her feelings on.
