[If nothing else, Vash can lift your spirits, Ain. It's what he's here for, to be goofy and ridiculous.
What he's really here for though is to take care of his bird. He's quick to charge out into the snow, pleasantly surprised by the fact that the hard snowing has stopped, leaving it cold and covered in ice, but at the very least his jacket isn't going to get wet. Judging by the cloud cover, that won't be lasting for long though...
He decides to head to one of the local bakeries first, since the soup will need to go straight back while it's still warm. And, boy, is Vash immediately overwhelmed when he gets in there. It's probably for the best he did not go in there on an empty stomach, otherwise he would have come out with more than just a single box of cookies...there's a lot of variety on display here, and not just cookies either. Donuts, brownies, slices of cake, pies...even massive cinnamon rolls.
But no. He came here for cookies, and that's what he asks for when its his turn at the counter. He ends up picking up a box of 12 with three flavors of cookie inside, 4 of each. Chocolate chip, peanut butter, and coconut. What he isn't expecting is the cashier to throw in an extra cookie for free for him to eat while he walks, and hey, he's not going to pass up a free cookie. It seems like slowly but surely, people are beginning to recognize Vash and his pet bird...but it's not for bad reasons. At least, not yet. Word- as well as the wanted posters- hasn't yet spread out this far.
He doesn't end up stopping at the jewlry store, though he might have if he had more than just enough money to get the food with. It would have been tempting, bringing all of it, but...it probably wouldn't have been a good look to spend it all on trinkets, even if he feels like Ain deserves more.
But maybe...there's something else? Hm.
Eventually, Vash makes it back to the inn with two bags in hand, one with the cookies and the other containing their soup: two containers of mild chicken noodle that even the sickest person could stomach. He opens the door quietly, smiling a little to himself when he notices that Ain dozed off while he was away. It makes it easier for him to set the bags on the table nearby before walking over to sit on the edge of the bed, adjusting the washcloth on Ain's forehead even though it's mostly dried by now.
While he sleeps, assuming he doesn't wake up, Vash will take the time to carefully (probably badly, he's not good at this) tie a new ribbon into Ain's hair, one that he bought for him while he was out.]
