[If she runs, there's not much Izuku can do about it. Not only is he off the clock, but she also hasn't...done anything? Like, he figures she and her group are probably wanted- that's a given- but he has to play by the rules if he doesn't want to get himself into legal trouble.

He looks up from where he'd been searching the area when she mentions windows, nodding.]

[Izuku frowns after her, legitimately unsure if that was an actual question or if she's just trying to waste time to be spiteful...whatever. He'll find an exit himself. Somehow...

There are no windows, and a lot of debris scattered everywhere, but eventually Izuku comes across the collapsed remains of a door. It looks like it leads out of the room, at least...]

surprisingly, when he does call out, she comes to see. it looks unstable, but... in the big empty shopping floor, it's at least something in the face of her attitude- she knows she hasn't been the best 'stuck in a hell situation' partner.

[Well hey, guess what! As luck would have it, almost as soon as they start to inspect the door...the whole building rumbles. Ominously. And for a moment, Izuku is preparing himself for the worst.

Dust falls from the ceiling as he scans their surroundings for the safest place to find cover, only to realize it stopped as soon as it started. That hole where the door was is much wider now, giving them just enough space to get through if they crouch.

Just...don't think too hard about the way he'd immediately stepped in front of Jinx to shield her, just in case.]

...g-guess that's our way out.

( she won't think too hard about him tried to shield her if he doesn't think about how she was absolutely prepared to throw him to safety... what? she might look like a twig but she's tougher than she looks. )

[Honestly, at the rate the building is falling apart, it's hard to tell. Could just be a coincidence...or coincidentally very bad luck.

Izuku stands up a little straighter, the cloud of dust around them enough to hopefully mask how flushed he is.]

[It comes out half-formed and trails off because she's already on the move, which gives him an out to just. Do exactly that. Shut up and follow her out before something else breaks.]

without any more confirmation aside from a pointed glance his way, jinx approaches the opening. she can't really see what's through it... but. well. better to keep moving than to wait and get crushed. so in she goes!

[Izuku stiffens, because he'd nearly forgotten his phone in the chaos. He reaches for his pocket to find it miraculously there, albeit with the screen cracked. It seems to be working still, but any chance of them getting a signal to call for help is completely out of the question. With a bit of fiddling and a few smacks against his palm, he manages to get the flashlight on.]

Got it. No idea how long it's going to last, though.

i rolled a d20 to see how okay they'd be and they got a 2. i immediately rerolled to not kill them.

with the light comes some clarity- the room's half trashed, yeah, but there's a good amount of spots that look safe and sturdy. with her quirk, she expected far worse, actually. now what part of this... right. )

There should be stairs in the center. I remember coming through this way.

jinx stares without much emotion for a moment before taking the lead, which really speaks volumes in and of itself, doesn't it? the reluctance- okay, yeah, given that they're enemies it makes sense, and yet it always feels like that sort of reluctance regarding her is more about her powers than her morals. even the team had their doubts...

cautious as she goes, jinx spends a few seconds testing different spots before stepping over tiles or rubble. looks like she's not entirely talkative at the moment... but at one point when she reaches to brace herself against a counter, izuku might catch pink sparks at her fingers, which immediately recoil from the surface. it's probably fine. )

My quirk is volatile, dangerous, and too much for my body to actually handle. It has the active effect- which you've dealt with- and a passive effect: I'm a constant source of misfortune and bad luck. Which is why I want out of this place- if I get more stressed, I'm just gonna make things worse.

The only worse it could get is if the building collapses, and me going anywhere else isn't going to save me if that happens. So I'm probably in no better shape elsewhere than I am with you.

This entire situation is weird. The store was crowded- but it's only us. The windows are gone, and there's no sign of anyone, even from outside. It's like...

[Izuku uses his quirk a lot like a rabbit might use its legs for jumping, ping-ponging off nearby surfaces at a rate most people aren't capable of. So while Jinx can fall with style, it's more like Izuku...jumps? with style.]
