( he may have been the one to pull her up, but she was the one swimming blindly in a panic. and not all humans would be so willing to help, she knows this- especially when one remembers there's so many stories where humans benefitted from killing a mermaid- to consume one's flesh supposedly brought man immortality.

[It's a story Izuku has heard plenty of times, but honestly? He's not sure it's one he believes. Never mind the fact that he'd never even come close to going through with doing something like that...it's horrible to think about, not just killing a mermaid, but being immortal. Like...no thanks.

He doesn't have much here by way of medical supplies, but he does have gauze...which should help, he thinks. The salt water that soaks through when she's in the water might help disinfect it, in some way. He doesn't know, this isn't an AU where he has first aid experience-]

( there's probably other stories- not to mention the mixup of sirens and mermaids, though jinx's own abilities do nothing to help that sort of misconception. people will come up with so many reasons to kill something that's different than them.

and she can't really complain considering her own hands are no better at this point. jinx does curl up more as he leaves though, trying to be smaller- less visible. her tail may be pitch black, but her skin is grey and her hair is a vibrant pink that can be seen especially well on the surface- she doesn't need more humans catching her like this. and... she's tired.

Yes. We fish out here. Not...not usually for, um...mermaids, but-

He's very careful when he starts to pull off the gauze needed to wrap her tail, hoping that what he has will end up being enough. For what it's worth, his touch is gentle and cautious, and he tries not to make any sudden movements.]
