[Aira sits on the bench outside of the teahouse he's supposed to meet his new fiancé at, trying very very hard not to tug on the sleeves of his kimono and ruin the very specific look his mother strove for.

This is stupid. It's stupid and it sucks and he doesn't know how he's going to tell Hiro-kun that they can't meet up next time he's in town because Aira will be engaged if not married and that'll just look terrible if he meets up with someone not his husband like that.

At least this guy's apparently some minor lord's second son? Or something. Either way, it'll be good for the family.]

( today is... confusing. he knew that his father was trying to arrange for a match for him, and wasn't entirely sure what to do despite his years of wisdom- this is a mother's work on some level, and hiiro simply doesn't have one, but his father was never trained for such things either. not until his sons were of age and he was left scrambling. and his father had been trying for this for a while now- a couple years at this point.

but today is the day he's going to actually meet his fiance. it's actually happening, it's all real.

and suddenly the feelings he's harbored for the friend he sees in town sometimes feels all the heavier. a married man must be devoted and faithful to his partner, after all, and with the love for aira in his heart he doesn't think he can give everything to this fiance, even if he's supposed to.

as he approaches the tea house, hiiro tries to control his breathing- keep calm, and take his mind off things.

Ah- Aira? What are you doing here?

[Aira looks up when he hears Hiro-kun what the heck--]

Hiro-kun? I'm, uh...

[He can't really dodge this, can he?]

I'm waiting for my fiancé. My parents found someone who thought I'd be a good match for his youngest son and they agreed.

( --oh.

that... hurts. a lot, actually.

it feels selfish that it does. they weren't truly each other's after all- and it was likely that aira didn't like him like that anyways. but...

I- I see.

( hiiro is quiet for a moment, clenching his fists- nerves, more than anything. )

I... Am also meeting my fiance. Though, I don't know what to expect.

[Aira smiles a little, but it's clearly forced.]

Me, either. My parents said he's nice, calmer than his older brother and about my age, but that's all they told me about Amagi-san. I'll probably have to move in with him, though.

[idoldestroyer]

( ... another amagi lord...? or... perhaps a member of the clan?

he wishes it were him. )

Yes, we'll likely have mine join us as well... I only know I'm engaged to the youngest of a family of artists my father likes.

[lovehan]

[Artists? Aira bites his lip, hesitating before sighing. He should say something now, before he can't.]

I wish it was you, Hiro-kun.

I... also wish it was you.

( how much longer before his fiance arrives? how much of this stolen moment can they have before it's truly too late?

if hiiro were anything like his brother, he'd grab aira and run, flee the village to someplace that's never heard of them before.

but ultimately he can't. and that... also hurts. )

[Aira sniffles.]

I was about to tell them I thought I'd found someone when they told me they'd settled on a husband for me. I don't want to marry some stranger, though, I want to marry you.

[idoldestroyer]

( aira sniffles and hiiro immediately closes the distance between them to wrap him in his arms. it's not fair. )

I- I know. I know... I don't want this either...

[lovehan]

[Hiiro pulls him into his arms and Aira starts crying. He can't help it.]

You're an Amagi, right? Do you think your dad outranks whoever I'm engaged to...?

[idoldestroyer]

( ... is it his clan? his father is the head after all... frowning, hiiro tries to think, but. )

I'm... not sure. I don't even know if it's the same Amagis-

[lovehan]

Oh, hold on.

[Aira reaches down and pulls out a fan that he then unfolds and shows to Hiiro. It has the characters for "Amagi" painted on them.]

It was Mom's idea. I'm supposed to have it out so my fiancé can find me...I guess they didn't tell him I look kind of European.

That's our clan. But who could it be then...

( hiiro he literally said the second son )

[Aira gets to his feet with a sigh, taking Hiiro's arm and dragging him off.]

Come on, let's go find the matchmaker or my parents. I can't believe neither of our parents mentioned our finacé's name.

... aira's lucky hiiro's whipped, honestly. imagine trying to drag him around otherwise. )

It's not like Father to forget such an important thing...

[He is and he knows it. Gods, he loves this boy.]

Same with my parents. Especially since Amagi isn't uncommon! There's your clan, and then there's one to the south, and we do business with both of them!

...I hope it you, Hiro-kun. I don't want to marry anyone else.

( after a moment, hiiro squeezes aira's hand in his. )

If it's not... let's run away.

( the words burn to say- he's nothing if not a dutiful son. but he'll choose aira more than duty. )

[lovehan]

[Aira giggles and squeezes back.]

Really? You'd run away, just to be with me?

[idoldestroyer]

Umu, yeah. Because you're the most important person to me.

( he says it so simply, and maybe some might find him acting out of sorts. but father always said that when you find the one, to do everything for them, so... )

[lovehan]

[Aira, still a little teary-eyed, just throws himself at Hiiro in a hug. Who cares if Hiiro's not the one his parents chose? It's the one he chose, and he loves him!]

Oh, do you think Tattsun-san could help us? He used to help out a temple...
