jinx stares without much emotion for a moment before taking the lead, which really speaks volumes in and of itself, doesn't it? the reluctance- okay, yeah, given that they're enemies it makes sense, and yet it always feels like that sort of reluctance regarding her is more about her powers than her morals. even the team had their doubts...
whatever.
cautious as she goes, jinx spends a few seconds testing different spots before stepping over tiles or rubble. looks like she's not entirely talkative at the moment... but at one point when she reaches to brace herself against a counter, izuku might catch pink sparks at her fingers, which immediately recoil from the surface. it's probably fine. )

It was a couple days later that people started to avoid me. I don't know who realized it could have been a nekomata, but it spread and some of you guys don't exactly have a good reputation... even for people who build their careers off of hunting us down.
( the last bit is said all too dryly. but it's... not wrong. the fact that humans get to have a known, respected occupation based on hunting yokai, who live in scrutiny, is kind of... how do you say... fucked? worse that it's justifiable. but she's heard stories of hunters that'd take down the stray yokai and then mark ones they knew for later- like attracts like, after all.

( it's not quite a standard villain attack- there's no robberies that are noted, no fires or threats- just a bored man and his two dumb friends, wanting something to do. maybe that's why no one sees it coming, and why they're able to slip through the chaos at the end of the day, safe and sound while snickering at the trail of wrecked lives left in their wake.
here's how it looks to the unaffected but close: it's a busy day at the train station, and even criminals have their day-to-day lives. some are boarding, some are exiting, and then in a thirty feet radius, people just... drop. and then the radius expands. no one's out for too long, but when they come to... anyone over 15 looks at a complete loss as to what's happening. anyone under 15 is also pretty confused and worried, but it becomes clear that it's not the same when someone asks their own son "who are you?" and more respond to each other the same way.
and then panic spreads as more people begin to drop again. there's a scramble to get out of the station, and authorities are alerted. it's a struggle to get in or out... so one girl sits where she had dropped, curling her legs in so as to not trip anyone and watches in a quiet, terrified confusion that she dares not voice. she doesn't know this, but she'd been on her way to a book store, so she looks like a normal girl- braided hair, fashionable but comfortable outfit, and not a single clue as to what that humming energy just beneath her skin is.
eventually heroes get in, and eventually someone touches her shoulder. she should recognize him- he's been a personal thorn in her side for months now. but instead she gives him a blank if not worried look, because it really is just a terrible situation all around. when she speaks, it won't carry the same sharp tone she forces out that deku may know- instead she sounds soft as she naturally should, delicate almost. her own id is in her fingers, since it's the only clue to who she is right now. it reads: Morais, Felicity A. )

[It's a story Izuku has heard plenty of times, but honestly? He's not sure it's one he believes. Never mind the fact that he'd never even come close to going through with doing something like that...it's horrible to think about, not just killing a mermaid, but being immortal. Like...no thanks.

He hadn't been given much information to go on, just that people were dropping like flies at first. Then someone had radioed in a second time with an update: they were recovering, they seemed to be physically well...but their minds...

i love the mystery aspect but also cant wait for them to just be a yokai hunter and his crime cat

( she'd like to say that she's an unreadable wall of stone- but even without her ears and tail, jinx is a girl who wears her heart on her sleeve on some level, regardless of how much she may want to. the way her shoulders sag even though she sits up for a moment before relaxing into the chair again, the spark of hope in her eyes- her relief is more than evident. but then she's back to business. )
